Robert Ray Harlow
Robert Ray Harlow, 65, of Pleasant Plains died at 3:15 p.m., Sunday, December 6, 2015 at his residence. He was born March 21, 1950 in Sangamon County to Ray and Roberta Allen Harlow. He married Nancy LaTourelle on March 24, 2014 and she survives.
He is also survived by his mother, Roberta Miller of Springfield; father, Ray Harlow of Nokomis; one daughter, Rachel R. Harlow (significant other, Andrew Martin) of Pleasant Plains; one son, R. Ryan Harlow of Pleasant Plains; Nancy’s children, Ned and Suzanne LaTourelle, both of Springfield; two grandchildren, Carter James Bice and Jaxon Wrigley Harlow; two sisters, Deborah (Mike) Liles of Virden and Kathleen (Mike) Rusciotelli of Springfield; one brother, Lyndon Harlow of Springfield; one aunt, Dorothy Wright of Berea, KY and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins.
Robert was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in Vietnam. He retired from the State of Illinois where he worked primarily with the Environmental Protection Agency as an Environmental Specialist. He was a staunch Democrat and dedicated AFSCME member and lifetime member of VFW. He was an avid Chicago Bears and St. Louis Cardinals fan. He spent much of his spare time engaged in home improvement projects for himself and others.
Gathering: 4:00-7:00 pm Thursday, December 10, 2015 at Staab Funeral Home.
Celebration of Life: 1:00 p.m., Friday, December 11, 2015 at Staab Funeral Home where Military Honors will be conducted by the Sangamon County Interveterans Burial Detail.
