Robert R.L. Cook
SPRINGFIELD – Robert R.L. Bob Cook Sr., 79, of Springfield died at 4:20 a.m. on Sunday, January, 10, 2010, at St. John’s Hospice.
He was born on September 2, 1930, in Decatur, IL, to Fred and Camilla Parker Cook. His parents; two brothers, Fred and Earl; and two sisters, Juanita Phillips and Joann Dudgeone, preceded him in death.
On September 17, 1950, he married his wife of 59 years, Nettie B. Venters.
Bob is survived by his wife, Nettie; one son, Robert Lloyd Cook Jr. of St. Louis; two sisters, Marie Walters and Eileen Bussman, both of Decatur; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mr. Cook enjoyed playing pool, working in his yard, and spending time with his dog, Perry. He owned and operated Bob’s Unocal at 5th and South Grand in Springfield for many years. He was very dedicated to his family and customers.
A memorial gathering will be held from 2-3 p.m. on Sunday, January 17, 2010, at Staab Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 3 p.m. with the Reverend Randy Cates officiating.
