Robert M. Walters, 43, Springfield, IL went home to be with his Lord on Monday, July 15, 2013 at St. John’s Hospital.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Living Water Church, 2901 E. Sangamon Ave., Springfield, IL. Dr. Robert Armstrong, Pastor of Living Water Church, will lead the service. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. A meal will be provided by the church after the service. Burial will occur later in Danvers, IL.
Robert was born March 31, 1970 in Champaign, IL. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn M. Walters; mother, Carol Walters Corly Dawson (Burle) of Ozark, AL; father, Robert T. Walters (Delores) of Tuscola; sisters, Amy L. Dunham (Ed) of Bloomington, Phoebe M. Buker (Myron) of Carbondale, IL, and Lindsey B. Walters of Orient, IL; 2 nieces, Maddie Dunham and Bailey Williford; 1 nephew, Sylvan Buker and his aunt, Coleen Milligan of Carbondale, IL.
Robert graduated from Carterville High School in 1989. He married Kathryn Dickson August 20, 2005 in Bloomington. He worked the last 4 years at St. John’s Hospital and loved his job.
Robert was an example of one of God’s disciples who stood strong throughout his short life despite physical challenges. In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorials be made to Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network, Epilepsy Foundation or to Kathryn. Robert was a loving husband and will be missed by all who knew him.
