Robert Lewis Cox

Robert Lewis Cox, Sr., 78, of Springfield, IL died at 10:26 am Thursday, April 18, 2013 at St. John’s Hospital. He was born October 20, 1934 in Springfield, IL to Albert R. and Oleta Yocom Cox. He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Alberta Cox and Dorothy Greenwood.
He was the beloved partner of Ms. Betty Yard, father to Robert Jr. (Christina), Mary Rita and John, cherished grandfather of 7, great grandfather of 3 and uncle to 1.

Bob was a long time member of Eagles, Elks, Moose, VFW and DAV Clubs and will be missed by his family and many cherished friends. He will always be in our hearts and we will never forget him. He was one of a kind. He retired from the State of Illinois. Bob was a Naval Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict, receiving the National Defense Service Medal. He then joined the Army National Guard serving as a Sergeant with the military police.

Visitation: 9-10 am Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at Staab Funeral Home.

Funeral Service: 10:00 am Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at Staab Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.
