Robert L. Rinaldo, Sr., 71, of Springfield, died at 6:52 pm, Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born March 24, 1944 in Elgin, to Lawrence R. and Myrtle M. Hintt Rinaldo. He married Julia Hem on February 12, 1993 and she survives.

Also surviving are one daughter Pilar (Tom) Thomas of Columbia, TN; one son, Robert Rinaldo, Jr. of Jacksonville; two step-daughters, Jennifer (Todd) Westendorf of Auburn and Kerri Zgaga of Orlando, FL; three grandchildren; three brothers, Paul Rinaldo of Fairfax, VA, Kenneth D. Rinaldo of San Jose CA and Lawrence R. Rinaldo of Carrollton, TX and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Joan Boetger and Ruth May and one brother John Rinaldo.

Robert was a US Army veteran serving in Germany during the Vietnam Era. He was a member of AFSCME and was former Vice Commander of the American Legion Post in New Berlin. He worked for the Illinois Department of Revenue as a computer software specialist.

Graveside Service: 1 pm, Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at Camp Butler National Cemetery, where the Sangamon County Inter Veterans Burial Detail will conduct Military Honors.
