SPRINGFIELD – Robert L. Snapper Kunz, 70, of Springfield died at 5:45 a.m. Monday, Oct. 12, 2009, at Memorial Medical Center.
He was born March 27, 1939, in Springfield, the son of Anthony and Mae Adcock Kunz. He married Virginia Ginny Rigney on Oct. 8, 1960.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Geraldine Kunz and Millie Baker; and a brother, Louis Kunz.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Ginny Kunz of Springfield; a daughter, Cindy Dee (Randy) Lewis of Springfield; two sons, Bobby (Kim) Kunz of Springfield and Jeff (Kelly) Kunz of Ashland; seven grandchildren, Amy (Roosevelt), Tony, Kellie, Kayla, Kodie, Ethan, and Dylan; three great-grandchildren, Kamarcus, Austin and Preston; and aunt; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Robert was a lifelong resident of Springfield.
He was the owner of Kunz Mower Service.
He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, TRN Club, American Legion Post 32, Eagle Aerie 437, and Elks Lodge 158. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving during the Korean era. He enjoyed boating and playing shuffle board.
Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, 2009, at Blessed Sacrament Church, with the Rev. David Hoefler officiating.
Burial will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery, where Sangamon County Interveterans Burial Detail will conduct military honors.
