VIRDEN – Robert Kaydus Sr., 82, of Virden died at 4:08 p.m. Saturday, May 1, 2010, at Memorial Medical Center.
He was born Dec. 16, 1927, in Springfield, the son of John and Florence Raylots Kaydus. He married Martha Britz on Aug. 20, 1949.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, John and Bill Kaydus; 1 sister, Anne Sweeton; and 1 grandson, Jonathon Kaydus.
Robert retired from Fiatallis. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in WWII. He lived in Chatham for 30 years before moving to Virden.
Surviving are his wife, Martha Kaydus of Virden; five sons, Robert Jr. of Mountain Home, AR, Michael Sr. (wife, Martha) of Girard, Richard (wife, Beverly) of Glenarm, George (wife, Lea) of Tallula and Allan (wife, Janice) of Springfield; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bernice Ralph of Springfield and Sister Eleonore Kaydus Avilla of IN; a brother, Paul Kaydus of Girard; several nieces and nephews; and 1 cousin.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at Camp Butler National Cemetery, with Deacon Frank Maynerich officiating. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted.
