Robert Eugene Smith

Robert “Bobby” Eugene Smith, 52, of Springfield, died at 4:12 pm, Thursday, December 19, 2013 at St. John’s Hospital. He was born September 20, 1961 in Springfield, to Paul Donald and Mary Jane Simmons Smith. He married Sandra Maynard on June 21, 2006 and she survives.

Also surviving are four children, David, Ashley, Bobby and Cassandra; six stepchildren, Christopher, Angela, Dalton, Alyssa, Melliny and Mathew; eleven brothers and sisters, Sharon (Jim, deceased) Thompson, Pete Kay of Warm Springs, VA, Carolyn McCubbin, Dee (Patty) Smith, Tim Smith, Patti Baskett, Jay (Debbie) Smith, Donna Smith, David Smith, Brian (Carrie) Smith and Kelly McClure (Darin); fifteen grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Amanda Jane Smith in 2012.

Bobby worked at the Lincoln Cab Company for several years and he was a delivery driver for the New York Times, USA Today and Chicago Tribune.
Visitation: 11am – 1pm, Friday, December 27, 2013 at Staab Funeral Home.

Funeral Service: 1 pm, Friday, December 27, 2013 at Staab Funeral Home with Pastor Ladd Sonnenberg officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made the Robert Smith Memorial Fund.
