Robert E. Hunziker
SPRINGFIELD – Robert E. Hunziker, 59, of
Springfield died at 7:10 a.m. Friday, July 11, 2008, at Regency Nursing Home.
He was born Nov. 8, 1948, in Springfield, the son of N. Ralph and Rose M. Knust Hunziker.
He was preceded in death by, his parents and two brothers, Ralph Jr. and Joseph Hunziker.
He is survived by a sister, Marialyce (husband, Gary) Havey of Springfield; an aunt, Marie Hunziker Nuckolls of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.;
a niece, Betsy (husband, Chris) Thomas; a nephew, Billy (wife, Candace) Havey; a great-niece; and a great-nephew.
He was a lifelong resident of Springfield.
Robert was an assessor for the Sangamon County Assessor’s Office for 20 years. He was a member of St. Agnes Church. He was a Democratic precinct committeeman for many years and was also very involved in Sertoma International. He was a graduate of Griffin High School. He received his bachelor’s degree from Illinois College and his MBA from Sangamon State University.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2008, at Staab Funeral Home.
A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2008, at St. Agnes Church with the Rev. Robert Jallas officiating.
Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in New Berlin.
