Robert Buck Power
SPRINGFIELD – Robert Buck Power, 66, of Springfield, formerly of Petersburg, died at 5:22 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, at Memorial Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 23, 1942, in Petersburg, the son of Chester and Lucinda Kelly Power. He was raised by his mother and stepfather, Robert Faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, James Power and Joe Faith.
He is survived by a daughter, Casey (companion, Philip) Power of Springfield; two sons, Robert (companion, Tonya) Power Jr. and Clint (companion, Bobbie) Power, both of Springfield; eight grandchildren, Sydney, Bobby, Sabrena, Kaleah, Makiah, Malachi, Teah and Damian; two sisters, Patricia (husband, Kenneth) McLaughlin of Petersburg and Constance (husband, Johnnie) Owens of Mercer, Mo.; a brother-in-law, Larry Hamby of Litchfield; two brothers, Ed (companion, Andrea) Garvin of Havana and Bill (wife, Joann) Faith of Columbus, Ohio; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Robert was a resident of Springfield for most of his life. He was a retired laborer for Laborers Local 477 in Springfield.
He was of the Presbyterian faith and a member of the DAV. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He enjoyed visiting his friends at his office – Felber’s Tavern – and was a very outspoken jokester. He is survived by many friends.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home, with Vaughn Beeman officiating. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery, where the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County will conduct military honors.
