Robert M. "Bob" Riegel
Robert “Bob” M. Riegel, 86, of Springfield, died peacefully surrounded by his family at 8:25 pm, Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Home. He was born October 15, 1930 in Robinson, Illinois to J. Howard and Irma (Buck) Riegel. He married Imogene Shryock on March 10, 1956 and she survives.
Also surviving are one son, Mark (Connie) Riegel of Springfield; two daughters, Pamela (Jeff) Phillips of Atlanta and Janice Phillips of Athens; nine grandchildren, Matthew (Todd) Riegel- Pinkerton, Gregory and William Riegel, Bryan, Andrew, Robert and Melissa Phillips, Ashley (Caleb) Barnett and Austin Phillips; six great grandchildren; one sister, Iris Macalene Reid of Robinson and one cousin, Dena Wilson of Robinson.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Bob was a US Air Force veteran serving during the Korean War. He was a member of The American Legion and First United Methodist Church.
Bob and Imogene enjoyed traveling, golfing and fishing. He was a loyal Chicago Cubs fan since 1939 and for over twenty years would travel to Mesa, AZ for Spring training. Bob worked for the Department of Transportation as a Resident Engineer for the State of Illinois and retired in December of 1990.
Visitation:5-7 pm, Monday, September 25, 2017 at Staab Funeral Home-Springfield.
Funeral Service: 10:30 am, Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield with Reverend Nicole Cox officiating.
Graveside Service: 11 am, Thursday, September 28, 2017 at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.
Memorial contributions may be made to Lincoln Land Honor Flight.

Imogene and family. My sympathy to you -- remembering the good times we had on our trips! Bob will be missed by all who knew him! Sorry I was unable to attend the visitation or services this week. My prayers are with you.
