Robert A. Bee
Robert A. Bee, 90, of Springfield, died at 6:15 a.m., Thursday, May 17, 2012 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village. He was born November 16, 1921 in Springfield, to Joseph and Nina Huddleston Bee. He married Anna Verne Ralph on October 25, 1946 and she preceded him in death on December 5, 2004.
His parents; one daughter, Marcia Bee; a brother, Lawrence Bee and two sisters, Alice Huber and Isabel Morris also preceded him in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Barbara (Larry) Theilen of Springfield; two sons, Robert J. (Karen) Bee of Freetown, IN and James A. (Gaile) Bee of Springfield; fourteen grandchildren; four great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Robert was a member of St. Joseph’s Church. He was a U.S. Army Veteran with the Signal Corp Attached to the Air Force. He served in the Pacific Theatre in Hawaii as a Crew Chief on radar. He most recently bowled in the Senior League at Strike and Spare West and in the Holy Name League from the 50’s to the 70’s. He was an avid Cardinals and Bears fan and enjoyed playing cards.
He was a self-employed contractor and owned Bee Construction. He also worked for Vredenburgh and RA Von Beren.
Visitation: 4-6 p.m. Sunday, May 20, 2012 at Staab Funeral Home with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m.
Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 21, 2012 at St. Joseph’s Church with Monsignor Thomas Holinga officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Land of Lincoln Honor Flight.
