Richard O. Alexander
Richard O. Alexander, 87, of Springfield, died at 7:45 pm, Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Home. He was born August 11, 1925 to Ross and Alma Alexander. He married Rosemary A. Spengler on February 1, 1945 and she survives.
Also surviving are one daughter Risa (Joseph) Sandoval of Jackson, WY; one son Richard (Karen) Alexander of Rochester; daughter-in-law, Debra Alexander of Sherman, IL; four grandchildren, Jusup and Colby Sandoval and Victoria and Chase Alexander; one great grandchild, Kaden; one brother David (Sandy) Alexander of Margate, FL, several nieces, nephews, cousins and his horse, Noel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, two brothers, his son, Rex and grandson Joshua.
Richard was a US Army Air Corps veteran. He was a lineman and assistant superintendant for CWLP. He was active for many years as an assistant scoutmaster. He was a member of Rochester Methodist Church. He enjoyed traveling to all 50 states; horseback riding and square dancing.
Visitation: 10 am – 12 noon Saturday, March 2, 2013 at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 12 noon Saturday, March 2, 2013 at Staab Funeral Home with Reverend Reverend Dr. Mark Estrop. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2309 White Oaks Drive Suite B, Springfield, IL 62704 or to the American Cancer Society.
