Richard L. Eggleston
Richard ‘Rick’ L. Eggleston, Jr., 43, of Springfield, IL passed away at 7:09 am, Monday, May 31, 2010, at his residence. Mr. Eggleston was born November 10, 1966 in Springfield, IL, the son of Richard L. Sr. and Sharlynne ‘Sue’ Cox Eggleston.
He is survived by his son, Nathan Eggleston of South Korea, parents, Sue and Richard Eggleston of Springfield, one sister, Joan (husband, Brian) Pollock of Beavercreek, OH, one brother, Tim (wife Debi) Eggleston of Springfield. Several aunts and uncles, including Patti (husband, Joe) Kaidell, Barb (husband Norman) Nation, William (wife, Norma) Eggleston, Jim (wife, Pat) Cox and Tom (wife, Jeanne) Cox, several cousins, one niece, Aili and three nephews, Tyler, Zach, and Alex.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Mr. Eggleston was a member of the United States Navy, Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and was an avid Cardinals fan. He enjoyed reading, listening to music, and watching movies. He enjoyed spending time with his family. Mr. Eggleston, a lifelong resident of Springfield, retired from the United States Navy after 20 years of service. He was employed by County Market.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, June 6, 2010 at Staab Funeral Home with a prayer service at 6 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 7, 2010 at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception with Monsignor John Ossola officiating. Burial will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery where Sangamon County Interveterans Burial Detail and the U.S. Navy will conduct military honors.
