Richard H. Goodrich
SPRINGFIELD – Richard H. Dick Goodrich, 61, of Springfield died at 9:15 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, 2008, at his residence.
He was born March 31, 1947, in Rockford, the son of Marvin and Anna Janssen Goodrich. He married Alice F. Lovekamp on Oct. 27, 1990.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Alice F. Goodrich; two sons, Chris (wife, Jennifer) Goodrich and Ryne (wife, Karmen) Goodrich, both of Springfield; three grandchildren, Trey, Liliana and Dylan Goodrich; a sister, Sandy (husband, Donald) Ellington of Wildwood, Mo.; a brother,
James (wife, Carolyn) Goodrich of Pawcatuck, Conn.; an aunt; an uncle; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was a lifelong resident of Springfield. He retired as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service after 21 years.
He was an U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam War and was a member of the VFW, DAV and NALC. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Bears, Illini basketball and football fan and a friend of Bill W.
Visitation will be from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 20, 2008, at Staab Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2008, at Staab Funeral Home, with Pat Meeter officiating. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2008, at Camp Butler National Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted.
