Richard A. "Dick" Arvin
Richard A. “Dick” Arvin, 85, of Chatham, died at 11:05 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village. He was born on November 12, 1928 in Springfield, IL to Leroy and Harriet E. Zachary Arvin.
Dick married Beverly Killen on March 26, 1949 and she preceded him in death on October 26, 1999. He is also preceded in death by his parents and a son, Rick Arvin.
He is survived by five children, Sher (Jim) Halpin of Dorchester, IL, Debra (Gary) Boatman of Springfield, Patti (Pete) Rooney and Janet (Gary) Stierlin, both of Chatham and Robert (Jennifer) Arvin of St. Louis, MO; 11 grandchildren; several great and great-great grandchildren; one sister, Helen Haynes of Peoria and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Dick has lived in Chatham since 1986. He retired as corporate laundry director for the Hospital Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi Health Systems. He was a US Navy Veteran serving during World War II.
Visitation: 10-11 a.m. Monday, July 14, 2014 at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 11 a.m. Monday, July 14, 2014 at Staab Funeral Home with Reverend Don Peck officiating.
Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
