Richard C. "Dick" Stoye
Richard C. “Dick” Stoye, 75, of Springfield died at 11:35 pm, Friday, September 27, 2019 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO after his yearlong battle with Leukemia. He was born November 30, 1943 in Litchfield, IL to Richard L. and Margaret (Subick) Stoye. He married Sandra Lee Cohnen on March 13, 1971 and she survives.
Also surviving are two children, Bobby (Amy) Stoye of Sherman and Kellee Sporrer (Fiancé James Grigsby) of Chatham; three grandsons, Richard “Cody” Stoye (Fiancé Brenda Martin) of Athens, Justin Tyler (Brandy) Stoye of Griggsville, and Cayden Matthew Sporrer of Chatham; two great-grandsons, Owen Brayden Stoye and Justin Tyler Stoye, Jr.; two sisters, Helen (Frank) Silvester Florissant, MO and Marjorie (Mike) Zuzack of Ellisville, MO; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Dick was a United States Army Veteran. He was a resident of Springfield for most of his life where he retired from the Secretary of State, Department of Police as a Security Guard at the State Capitol after 23 years of service.
He was a member of the American Legion and Teamsters local #916. He also enjoyed automotive car restoration, riverboat casinos, and spending time with the family and his four legged “little buddy” Skippy.
Visitation: 4-7 pm, Thursday, October 3, 2019 at Staab Funeral Home-Springfield.
Funeral Service: 11 am, Friday, October 4, 2019 at Staab Funeral Home- Springfield with Reverend Greg Busboom officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery where the United States Army will conduct military honors.
