Rex B. Howard
SPRINGFIELD – Rex B. Howard, 83, of Springfield died at 12:11 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28, 2009, at his home.
He was born Oct. 17, 1925, in Seattle, the son of Homer and Clara Leach Howard. He married Mary C. Rusciolelli on Oct. 17, 1953.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Jewel Bjorklund; and two brothers, Ray C. and Homer Howard.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Howard; a daughter, Sharon (Larry) Woods of Springfield; a son, Thomas Howard of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews.
Rex was a resident of Springfield for most of his life. He retired from Franklin Life as an office machine repairman.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during World War II. He was a past volunteer for the Boys and Girls Club. He received an award for volunteer work with Withrow School Safe Haven Program. He was a former Big Brother.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held at noon Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2009, at Camp Butler National Cemetery, where Macon County Honor Guard will conduct military honors.
Burial will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
