Reverend Gary Dale Dilley
Reverend Gary Dale Dilley, 75, of Sherman, died at 11:47 am, Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at his home. He was born August 11, 1940, to Dale R. and Flora H. Balzraina Dilley.
He is survived by two brothers Robert L. and James D. (Cindy L. Day) Dilley both of Springfield and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Patricia Bolinger and one brother, David H. Dilley.
Rev. Dilley received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Briar Cliff College in 1969 and a Master of Arts Degree in Theology and Religious Studies in 1982. He served as a Chaplain in the United States Air Force from 1973-1977. From 1977-1980 he served as pastor at St. Mary in Fort Worth, TX and from 1982-94 served as Campus Minister at Mercer University and Wesleyan College in the Diocese of Savannah and was Associate at St. Joseph Parish in Macon. From 1984-87 he was Pastor at Sacred Heart Church in Oshkosh, WI. He also served many churches in the Diocese of Charleston, SC, including, Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, St. Andrew, St. John, St. Thomas More Center, St. Paul the Apostle and St. Joseph Church.
Rev. Dilley was a member of the Fourth Degree of the Knights of Columbus, National Association of Hospital Chaplains and Association of Campus Ministers.
Visitation: 9:30 – 10:30 am, Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at Sacred Heart Church.
Funeral Mass: 10:30 am, Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at Sacred Heart Church with
Reverend James Isaacson officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National
Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.
