Raymond Orville Scott
Raymond Orville Scott, 91, of Springfield, IL, formerly of Manistique, Michigan, died on Christmas Eve 2011. He was born November 11, 1920, in Boyne City, Michigan, to Asa Charles Scott and Anna Della (Dodd) Scott.
He was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Manistique, and later transferred to Luther Memorial Church when he moved to Springfield.
During World War II he served as Pharmacist’s Mate First Class in the U.S. Navy, and received a Bronze Star for his service on Iwo Jima.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jane (Lawrence) Scott, his parents, and several siblings.
Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Pamela Jean Scott and William Henry Spindel, of Springfield; one brother and one sister; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 9:30 am-11:00 am, Wednesday, December 28th at Luther Memorial Church at the corner of Fifth St. and Bryn Mawr Blvd. in Springfield.
Funeral Service: 11 am Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at Luther Memorial Church with Pastor Bill Zanton officiating.
Private burial will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
