Raymond Henry Bud Marx
SPRINGFIELD – Raymond Henry Bud Marx, Jr., 84, of Springfield, formerly of Oswego died at 3:40 p.m., Saturday, October 16, 2010 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born September 25, 1926 in Springfield to Raymond and Susan Thompson Marx. He married Evelyn Kormos Marx and she preceded him in death on July 4, 2004. He is also preceded in death by his parents, one daughter; Sharon Abrams, two sisters; Dorothy Gibson and Velma Marx and one brother; Charles Marx.
Raymond is survived by two daughters Luann (husband: George) Mattern of Hecker, and Tracey (husband: Jake) Oldridge of Divernon, three sons Charles Rick (wife: Connie) Marx of Springfield, Douglas (wife: Linda) Marx of Virden and Lawrence (wife: Lynn) Marx of Petersburg, 14 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, two sisters Lucille Marx of WA and Susan (husband: Rick) Bolton of Flora, AR, two brothers Jim (wife: Toni) Marx and Jack (wife: Lorraine) Marx both of Springfield and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Raymond was a lifetime member of Springfield Elks BPOE – Carlinville Lodge and was the President and Secretary of Elks Illinois Bowling Association. He played lots of golf and played and closely associated with Blackberry Oaks Golf Club in Bristol, IL. He lived in Springfield and Oswego most of his life and retired from the State of Illinois where he was Chief Accountant Examiner for the Department of Insurance. Raymond is a World War II Navy veteran.
Visitation: 4-6 pm, Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral: 6:00 pm Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at Staab Funeral Home with Reverend Peter Harman, officiating. Burial will be at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 20, 2010 in Spring Lake Cemetery in Kendall, IL.
