Raymond Chapman, 80, of Springfield, died Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at his home. He was born May 16, 1931 in Springfield, to George and Ann Power Chapman. He married Dorothy Herrin in 1950. The divorced and he married Luella McClure Miller in 1984 and she survives.
Also surviving are 4 daughters, Florence (Rich) De Lia of Springfield, Helen Miller of Athens, Patti Lannine and Judy (Frank Michael) Parrish of Springfield; 4 sons, Donald (Nora) Chapman of Virginia, IL, Maurice Chapman of Springfield, John (Beverley) Chapman of Rochester and David (Jamie) Miller of Athens; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Doris Kelly, Barbara (George) Doerfler and Ellen (Gary) White and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Raymond Jr. 3 brothers, John, Maurice and Marty and sister, Margaret.
Raymond was a resident of Springfield and retired as an ironworker and after retirement maintained and managed rental property.
He enjoyed his second home in Florida, fishing and spending time with family and friends.
Visitation: 12-1 pm, Friday, April 6, 2012 at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 1 pm, Friday, April 6, 2012 at Staab Funeral Home with Reverend Cindy Spellbrink officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia, Illinois.
