Phillip E. Shereda
CHATHAM – Phillip E. Phil Shereda, 47, of Chatham, formerly of Springfield and Woodstock, died at 12:50 a.m. Thursday, July 3, 2008.
He was born March 13, 1961, in Woodstock, the son of Richard R. and Mary Viece Shereda. He married Ellen Gatton on May 21, 1983, at St. Joseph’s Church in Chatham.
He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen Shereda of Chatham; two daughters, Megan and Emily Shereda, both of Chatham; son, Ryan Shereda of Chatham; mother, Mary Shereda of Springfield; two brothers, Rick (wife, Kathy) Shereda of Riverton and Ray Shereda of Springfield; father- and mother-in-law, David and Emily Gatton of Chatham; a sister-in-law, Donna Nicholson of Chatham; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was a resident of Chatham since 1983. He worked for the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services as a systems analyst. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Church and the Knights of Columbus in Chatham. He loved hunting, fishing and watching racing. He especially enjoyed his two trips to Bristol. He was a Cubs fan and a graduate of Griffin High School.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, July 6, 2008, at Staab Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 7, 2008, at St. Joseph’s Church in Chatham with the Rev. John Nolan officiating. Burial will be at Chatham Cemetery.
