Pauline King Maton, 100, of Springfield, died at 9:20 a.m. on Monday, July 18, 2011 at St. Joseph’s Home. She was born December 19, 1910 in Mt. Auburn, IL to James E. and Etta M. Milligan Sallenger.
She is survived by 3 daughters, Ramona (Thomas) Metzger, Hazel (Richard) Ray and Paula Eddington all of Springfield; 14 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren, 17 great-great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, Edgar King and Louis E. Maton, one infant son, Paul J. King, 1 brother and two sisters.
Pauline was a member of Third Presbyterian Church where she participated in Sunday School Class, Annes Club in Springfield, Royal Neighbors since 1927, Kedron Chapter of Order of the Eastern Star for over 75 years. She was a homemaker and previously worked at Hazel Dell School Cafeteria and also worked at the DEW Chili Parlor.
The family wishes to thank Memorial Hospice, especially Pat and Emma, for their help and care for their mother.
Visitation: 10-11 a.m., Thursday, July 21, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 21, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home with Reverend Joe Eby officiating. A private family burial will be held at Mt. Auburn Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Joseph’s Home or Third Presbyterian Church.
