Paul J. Killion
SPRINGFIELD-Paul J. Killion, 89, of Springfield died at 4:43 pm, Saturday, August 4, 2012 at St. John’s Hospice. He was born April 21, 1923 in Athens, IL to Paul and Etta Hall Killion. Preceding him in death are a daughter Susan Marie Killion and a sister Helen Grant in 1999. He married Barbara J. Langan in 1949 and she survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Marilyn (Joe) Selvaggio and Joan (Steve) Fafoglia both of Springfield and Beth (Ron) Killam of Virden; one son Bruce (Davahn) Killion of Glencoe; three granddaughters; four grandsons; one great-granddaughter; two step granddaughter; four nieces, and one nephew.
Paul was a resident of Springfield most of his life and a member of Blessed Sacrament Church. He was a full time technician with the Air National Guard at Capital Airport. He retired from the Illinois Air National Guard in 1983 with 34 years of service. Paul served in the United States Army during WWII and the Korean War. He was a life member of the Elks Lodge #158, American Legion Post #32, and a former member of the Grasshopper Golfing League. Paul loved golfing, camping, traveling and his family.
Visitation: 9:30-11:30 am Thursday, August 9, 2012 at Blessed Sacrament Church.
Funeral Mass: 11:30 am Thursday, August 9, 2012 at Blessed Sacrament Church with Reverend Jeff Grant officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where Military Honors will be conducted by Sangamon County Interveterans.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Blessed Sacrament Building Fund, 1725 S. Walnut Springfield, IL 62704 or St. John’s Hospice, 800 E. Carpenter, Springfield, IL 62769.
