Oscar L. Irwin, 99, of Springfield, died at 4:50 am, Friday, December 26, 2014 at Sunny Acres Nursing Home in Petersburg.  He was born September 20, 1915 in Salisbury, to Oscar Milton and Sadie Jacoby Irwin.  He married Lilly B. VanFossan in 1942 and she preceded him in death on August 15, 2013.

Survivors include one daughter, Sandra (Mike) Branham of Springfield; two grandchildren, Candice Marie (Josh) Laurent of Springfield and Jacklyn Renee Summers of Rochester; three great grandchildren, Taylor Summers and Vincent and Victor Laurent and one brother Melvin (Billie) Irwin of Springfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; four sisters and three brothers.

Oscar owned and operated Oscar’s Tavern for sixty years.

Visitation:  5-7 pm, Monday, December 29, 2014 at Staab Funeral Home.

Graveside Service:  11 am Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald MacDonald House.
