Norma J. Dean
Norma J. Dean, 85, of Springfield, died at 2:50 am, Saturday, March 31, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center. She was born December 22, 1932 in Johnsonville, IL to Roy and Margaret Lori Kiger. She married Guy Bandy and they later divorced. She married Willard Dean on February 27, 1963 and he preceded her in death on December 24, 2010.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; sister, Thelma Black; brother, Bill Kiger and grandson Ryan Bandy.
Survivors include two sons, Carl (Brenda) Bandy of Flora, IL and John (Janet) Bandy of Chatham; one daughter, Christine Norman of Springfield; two granddaughters, Ashley (Paul) Kellogg of Columbia City, IN and Kassi (Ben) Michels of Cisne, IL; one grandson, Aaron Bandy of Springfield; one brother Jim (Carolyn) Kiger of Olney, IL; one sister-in-law Gladys Kiger of Largo, FL; ten great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Norma and Willard were happily married for forty-seven years before his death in 2010.
She worked as a nurse’s aide before her youngest child was born and Willard worked for the US Postal service for thirty-three years. After his retirement they spent many summers camping at Cloud 9 Ranch in Caulfield, MO.
She enjoyed watching Cubs and Cardinals games, especially when Yadier Molina or Jake Arrieta played. She was a fan of country music legends Alan Jackson, Brooks & Dunn and George Strait. She was also a fan of Cher and Elvis.
Visitation: 4-7 pm, Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.
Funeral Service: 10:30 am, Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield with Pastor Brian Wilmarth officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
