January 25, 1927 - December 11, 2021

Nolen E. Daily, of Springfield, passed away on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at Quincy Veteran’s Home. He was born January 25, 1927, in Sangamon County, to Everett Nolen and Pearl (Phillips) Daily, and they preceded him in death. He was the oldest son of nine children.

He is survived by two daughters, Kathleen Stain of Decatur, Karen S. Parks of Springfield, one son, Jeff (Susan) E. Daily of Springfield, nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, one sister, Joann Wilm of Chicago, and one brother, Phillip Daily of Rockford, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Laurie M. Graves, and seven siblings.

He was a graduate of Williamsville High School and always bragged about being number 2 in his class. Later on, we found out there were only 3 graduates in his class. He was a resident of the
Springfield area after graduation. He was a WWII veteran of the Navy and served on the USS Starlight. He worked at Fiat Allis for 31 years and retired at the age of 53. He then worked as a motor carrier for the SJR for seventeen years.

He was a member of the ABATE Motorcycle Association and took great pride in working the Downed Rider Fundraisers. He enjoyed his Harley and his favorite trip was the Missouri Ride that he rode for years. He was known for always carrying a black marker and writing “Budro” on places he visited. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed working in his yard. An animal lover, he had several pets over the years. He enjoyed going to St. Louis and watching the Cardinals and in his later years, watched them play on TV.
