Nijole "Nina" Forrest
Nijole “Nina” Forrest, 75, of Sherman, died at 3:28 pm, Thursday, December 27, 2012 at St. John’s Hospital. She was born November 21, 1937 in Kaunas, Lithuania, to Fulgencius and Adele Matiukas Grikevicius. She married Donald Dean Forrest on December 8, 1956 in Cheyenne, WY.
She is survived by her husband, Don; one son, Jim (Kim) Forrest of Springfield; one daughter Tracy (Andrew) Fraser of Sherman; four grandchildren, Christina Cody (Fiance’ Brian Rottman), Jessica Cody, Andrea Fraser and Jana Howard; one great granddaughter, Madison Howard; two sisters Rima (David) Rackauskas of Los Angeles, CA and Gintare Micke of Phoenix, AZ; one brother-in-law, James I. (Kathy) Forrest of Philo, IL; nieces and nephews, Heather Forrest of Champaign, IL, Mathew (Jillian) Forrest of FL and Derek (Alexandra) Forrest of Waverly, IL, Tomi (Paul) McEvoy, John Forrest and Jamie (Chris) Gothro all from Southern California and one cousin, Peter Matiukas of Rochester, NY.
Her parents and two brothers, Algis and Aloysas Grikevicius preceded her in death.
Nina was a resident of Sherman for the past twenty-two years. She retired from the State of Illinois. She was a U.S. Air Force Veteran. She was of the Lutheran faith and enjoyed spending as much time as possible with her children and grandchildren.
Visitation: 10 am – 12 noon, Monday December 31, 2012 at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 12 noon, Monday, December 31, 2012 at Staab Funeral Home with Pastor James Stuenkel officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Nina Forrest Memorial Fund c/o Williamsville State Bank.
