Neyl Kreher Keller
1 SPRINGFIELD – Neyl Kreher Keller, 86, of Springfield died at 3:58 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at his residence.
He was born Jan. 7, 1923, in Boody, the son of Archie and Gustie Kreher Keller. He married Betty Wicklein; she preceded him in death on June 10, 1990. He later married Georgeanna Hypke in 2006.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife; and a son, Greg Keller.
He is survived by his wife, Georgeanna Keller of Springfield; two daughters, Karen (Richard) Hall of Riverton and Connie Armstrong of Elroy, Wis.; three sons, Doug (Joan) Keller of Springfield, Mark (Paula) Keller of Petersburg and Bruce Keller of Springfield; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jean (Bill) Markel and Shirley (Don) Craft, both of Colorado; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Neyl was a resident of Springfield since 1970. He was a sales Contractor for CA Dawson.
He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during World War II. He received the European African Middle Eastern Service medal with two Bronze Stars, Air Medal, GO Hq. 9th Air Div 45, and Distinguished Unit Badge GO 11 Hq. 9th AF 45.
He was of the Methodist Faith. He was a 50-year member of the Masons. Neyl received his bachelor’s degree from Milliken University.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, March 29, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1 pm, Monday, March 30, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home, with
Pastor Ed Ingram officiating. Burial will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery, where Sangamon County Interveterans will conduct military honors.
