Myrtle M. Markey

Myrtle M. Markey, 88, of Greenview, died at 6:40 am, Monday, July 20, 2015 at Sunny Acres Nursing Home in Petersburg. She was born October 2, 1926 in Springfield, to Earl and Mabel Bell Shaffer. She married James R. Markey on October 8, 1949 and he preceded her in death on September 23, 1992. Survivors include three daughters, Pamela (Dave) Eddy of Bartow, FL, Theresa Nichols of New Berlin and Mary (Mike) Pulliam of Greenview; one son, James (Jackie) Markey of Springfield; eight grandchildren, Carla and Andrea Eddy both of Lehigh Acres, FL, Josh LeMasters of Springfield, Chris (Andy) Ecklund of McHenry, Michael (Fiancé: Akane Fujimura) Pulliam of Yokosuka, Japan, Jordan Nichols of New Berlin and Jonathan and Hannah Markey both of Springfield; four great-grandchildren, Kiernan and Eleanor Ecklund of McHenry and Lauren and Nicole Bichsel of CO; one sister Betty Robson of DuQuoin and one brother George (Ruth) Shaffer of Springfield; several nieces and nephews and one cousin. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter, Mary Jo Markey; one granddaughter Lisa Eddy-Forde; one great-grandson, Caleb Forde and one sister Marjorie Gillman.

Myrtle was a member of St. Cabrini Church. She worked as a Pharmacy Technician for Thrifty Drugs.

Visitation: 9-11 am, Thursday, July 23, 2015 at St. Cabrini Church.

Funeral Mass: 11 am, Thursday, July 23, 2015 at St. Cabrini Church with Reverend Clint Honkomp officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
