Muriel G. Torgerson
SPRINGFIELD – Muriel G. Torgerson, 89, of Springfield, formerly of Scottsdale, Ariz., Lakeland, Fla., and Adams, Minn., died at 1:43 p.m. Friday, March 26, 2010, at Lewis Memorial Christian Village.
She was born Aug. 27, 1920, in Dexter, Minn., the daughter of Henry A. and Inga Arntzen Sass. She married Vance N. Torgerson on April 14, 1946; he preceded her in death on Sept. 19, 2002.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Donald Sass; and an infant sister.
She is survived by three sons, Dr. Stuart (wife, Cressie) Torgerson of Springfield, Dr. Brian C. (wife, Candace) Torgerson of Vass, N.C. and James D. (wife, Mary Ann) Torgerson of Fountain Hills, Ariz.; seven grandchildren, Alissa (Ryan) Schuh, Andrew, Sara (Matt) Oborne, Erik, Lindsey, Cheryl Kosloske and Jayden; a great-grandson, Noah; sister-in-law,
Dorothy L. Smith of Glens Falls, N.Y.; a niece; and two nephews.
Muriel had lived in Springfield for the past three and a half years. She was a homemaker and also worked as a bank teller and at Dayton’s Department Store.
She was a member of Little Cedar Lutheran Church in Adams Minnesota, where she was active with several groups and circles. She also was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and League of Women’s Voters. Muriel was a great golfer and had three holes- in-one. She enjoyed playing bridge and reading.
Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 3, 2010, at Little Cedar Lutheran Church in Adams, Minn. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 3, 2010, at the church, with Pastor Leslie Neist officiating.
Burial will be at Little Cedar Cemetery in Adams, Minn.
