Mildred Carter
Mildred Carter, 91, of Springfield died at 7:10 pm, Thursday, April 24, 2014 at St. John’s Hospice. She was born July 17, 1922 in Bardley, MO the daughter of Lucas and Belle Davis Bates. She married Luke Elvie Carter in 1941 in Riverton MO, and he preceded her in death on November, 12, 2001. She was also preceded in death by a daughter Olive (Cis) Willis in 1992; her parents; four brothers, Basil, Utah, Bob and Gene and three sisters, Velma, Mary Lee and Imogene.
Surviving are one daughter Cheryle (Paul) Downs of Sherman; two sons Joe (Linda) Carter and Ed Carter both of Springfield; six grandchildren; one step-granddaughter; seven great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
Mildred was co-founder of Carter Bros Lumber Co. and Sawmill, a homemaker and a grandmother to everyone. She attended Living Water Church and was a member of the South 7th Street Assembly of God. She was also a member of the Ladies 50 plus and the Pinnettes bowling leagues.

Sorry to here of your mothers passing. She was one of the great residents of Sherman that we all grew up around.
