Michael W. "Mick" Stotler
Michael W. “Mick” Stotler, 71, of Andrew, IL passed on April 28, 2018 after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Alton, IL on August 4, 1946 to William “Jug” Stotler and Frances Wright Stotler who preceded him in death. His wife, Tara Fishel Stotler, preceded him in death in 2002 (Stepsons Troy and Kevin Fishel).
Two sons and families survive from a prior marriage to Ronda Creek; Craig, wife Lila with granddaughters Kya and Skylar of Fairbury, IL and Travis of Decatur, IL. He had one sister preceding him in death, Mary (Dennis) Dalton of Collinsville, IL and one surviving sister Sue (David) Woods of Greenfield, IL who are taking care of the family farm in Rockbridge.
Mick grew up in Rockbridge, IL, where he attended Rockbridge grade school then Greenfield High, graduating in 1964. He attended Eastern Illinois University before entering the Army where he served in Vietnam with the First Air Calvary and receiving the Bronze Star.
Mick worked mainly in transportation and retired from ABF in 2001. He enjoyed being with friends, pitching horseshoes, playing softball, and bowling. He was an avid golfer and supervised two benefit golf tournaments a year for twelve years from the Double H in Sherman, IL.
Memorial Gathering: 4-7 pm, Friday, May 4, 2018 at Staab Funeral Home – Sherman.
Graveside Service: 11 am, Monday, May 7, 2018 at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Memorial Home Service Hospice in Springfield, IL.
