Michael R. Leach
Michael R. Leach, 60, of Springfield, died at 6:33 am, Sunday, September 3, 2017, at Memorial Medical Center. He was born December 29, 1956, in Springfield to Lum D. and Patricia M. (Atteberry) Leach. He married Sylvia Asbury on September 11, 2006, and she survives.
Survivors also include two children: Michelle Leach of Springfield, Shane Leach of Quincy; two step-children: Jamie (Jeff) Scott of Georgia and Robert Jack of Springfield; eight grandchildren: Blayne, Payten, Breanna, Ashleigh, Elizabeth, Kobe, Kali and Lexi, mother, Patricia Leach; two sisters: Lenna DeGroot of Rochester and Laura Dwyer of Springfield, and one brother, James Leach of Springfield; his beloved fur baby Susie Q; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father; brother, David Leach; and nephew, Michael David Dwyer.
Michael was a lifelong resident of Springfield. He was a Sangamon County Dispatcher for 19 years and previously worked at Pillsbury. He was a self-taught drummer who played in Bustin’ Loose, The Wanderers and several local bands. He was a Cubs Fan, liked calling Bingo, loved Reese’s Peanut Butter Eggs and spending time with his family and friends.
Visitation: 4 – 7 pm, Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Staab Funeral Home-Springfield.
Funeral Service: 10 am, Thursday, September 7, 2017 at Staab Funeral Home-Springfield with Tamara Bivins officiating. Burial will follow after at Calvary Cemetery.
