Michael J. May, 68, of Chatham, died at 4:26 a.m., Thursday, December 8, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born on November 28, 1948 in Springfield to Charles and Mary McDonough May and they preceded him in death.

Surviving are his two sons, Charles May of Chicago and Evan (Stephanie) May of Hampton, VA and one sister, Mary Wood of Springfield.

Michael retired from the State of Illinois, Public Aid and DHS division. He is a Feitshans High School graduate and also a Past Master of Chatham Central Lodge #523, Past Sovereign Prince Scottish Rite, Meritorious Service Award in 2014, Past President of Ansar Shrine Hospital Unit, Ambassador for 10 plus years, secretary for Jeepsters and numerous other duties.

Memorial Gathering: 4 – 7 pm, Monday, December 12, 2016 at Staab Funeral Home-Springfield with a Masonic service being held at 6:30 pm.

Memorial Service: 10 am, Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at Staab Funeral Home-Springfield. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Children’s Dyslexia Center-Springfield or Shriner’s Hospital for Children.
