Michael Herman, 66, of Springfield, died at 11:30 pm, Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at the Illinois Veteran’s Home in Quincy. He was born November 2, 1949 in Indianapolis, IN to Paul and Lillian Clay Ivy. His parents and one brother, Clell Ivy preceded him in death.
Surviving are three daughters: Arlene (Clarence) Walton of Arkansas, Karmen Goodrich and Katherine Herman, both of Springfield; one son, Aaron Herman of Springfield; ten grandchildren; one great grandchild; three brothers, Roger Ivy and Aaron (Ann) Hannon, both of California and Craig Ivy of Springfield, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mr. Herman was a member of Zion Baptist Church. He was a United States
Marine Corps Veteran. He loved fishing, gardening and spending time with his grandkids. Michael was an ironworker with the Iron Workers Local #46.
Visitation: 5 – 7 pm, Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Staab Funeral Home.
A second visitation will be held from 10 – 11 am, Friday, April 15, 2016 at Zion Baptist Church, 1601 E. Laurel, Springfield, IL.
Funeral Service: 11 am, Friday, April 15, 2016 at Zion Baptist Church with Reverend Samuel Hale officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.
