Michael C. Upperman, III
Michael C. Upperman, III, 22, of Springfield, died Friday, April 10, 2015 at his home surrounded by family after a courageous battle with Ocular Melanoma. He was born October 1, 1992 in Champaign, IL to Michael Upperman, Jr. and Kimberly (Hanney) Clark.
He is survived by his parents, Kim and Scott Clark of Springfield; two sisters, Courtney Upperman of Springfield and Nichole (Ryan) Strebing of Bloomington; one brother, Chad Clark of St. Louis, MO; grandparents, Bill and Barb Hanney of Ft. Myers, FL, Bob Clark of Springfield, Phyllis Quigley of Orlando, FL and Mike & Carolyn Upperman of Perrysville, IN; several aunts, uncles, cousins and his dog, Sophie. He was preceded in death by his grandma, Ada Clark and his beloved Nana.
Michael was a very involved member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. He was on a National Leadership Board and held various positions with Sigma Chi. He was chosen to attend the Leadership Academy at SEMO. His hobbies included hanging with his friends and fraternity brothers, target shooting and traveling abroad. By the age of 21 he had traveled to 9 countries.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, April 13, 2015 at Staab Funeral Home with a memorial service at 4 pm, followed by a memorial gathering until 7 pm.

What a shame to lose a fantastic young man. His sincere care for others & genuine personalty made him stand out from the crowd. We will always consider him and his family as part of our family. We love & miss you, Michael. You will always be in our hearts.
