Michael August Catteau
PAWNEE – Michael ‘Big Cat’ August Catteau Jr., 35, of Pawnee died at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2009, in Warren County.
He was born Oct. 16, 1973, in Springfield, the son of Michael A. and Melinda Morris Catteau Sr. He married Theresa F. Perry on March 12, 2007; they renewed their vows in Tennessee on May 14, 2007.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Catherine Catteau; grandfather, Jack Morris; and cousin, Bryan Kramer.
He is survived by his wife, Theresa F. Catteau of Pawnee; parents, Michael A. and Melinda Catteau Sr. of Pawnee; a sister, Stephanie M. (Todd) Cummings of Pawnee; grandmother, Jean E. Morris of Pawnee; ‘The Aunts’, Mary Louise, Blanche and Josephine Catteau; aunts and uncles, Cynthia and David Kramer of Pawnee and Deborah and Roland Eckert of Scottsdale, Ariz.; two nieces, Autumn Cummings and Madeleine Morey; and a nephew, Frank Morey.
Michael was a lifelong resident of Pawnee and was the owner of Big Cat’s Taxidermy.
He was a member of St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Kincaid, the Pawnee Knights of Columbus, American Rifle Association, and Illinois Whitetails. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed spending time with his dog, Buddy.
He was a graduate of Pawnee High School in 1991. He attended Lincoln Land Community College and was a graduate of the Missouri Institute of Taxidermy.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, April 12, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Additional visitation will be held from 8:30 to 9:15 a.m. Monday, April 13, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home, followed by funeral mass at 10 a.m. at St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Kincaid, with the Rev. Daniel Willenborg officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Pawnee.
Memorials may be made to the Christian Care Program at St. John’s Hospital.
