Melissa Wootton Phillips
Melissa Wootton Phillips, 53, of Springfield, went home to be with the Lord at 9:49 pm, Thursday, July 2, 2015 at St. John’s Hospice. She was born December 29, 1961 in Kankakee, IL, to James and Mary Lou Wootton. She married Doug Phillips on June 7, 1980.
Surviving are her husband, Doug Phillips of Springfield; two daughters, Laura (Caleb) Adams of Springfield and Melinda (Adam) Holler of Greenville; parents, James and Mary Lou Wootton of Springfield; three sisters, Pam (Paul) Hickey of St. Clair, MO, Sherry (Doug) Holliday of Greenview and Natalie (Steve) Holliday of Athens; one brother James (Jean) Wootton II of Monroe, LA and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Melissa was a very active member of Springfield Southern Baptist Church. She selflessly served in various mission organizations throughout Illinois. She was loved and adored by countless friends and family.
She was Associate Executive Director of the Church Cooperation Team of Illinois Baptist State Association (IBSA).
Visitation: 4-7 pm, Monday, July 6, 2015 at Staab Funeral Home.
Additional Visitation: 10-11 am, Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at Springfield Southern Baptist Church.
Funeral Service: 11 am, Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at Springfield, Southern Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Keppler and Nate Adams officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Springfield Southern Baptist Church Building Fund.
