Maxine E. Eddington, 99, of Niceville, FL formerly of Springfield, IL died at her home on Sunday, September 25, 2011. She was born on July 22, 1912 in Taylorville, IL the daughter of Franklin O. and Gertrude Cooper Elliott. She married Charles F. Eddington and he preceded her in death in 1944 while serving in the Army. She was also preceded in death by her brother Kenneth Elliott and her son-in-law, Bernard Reynolds.
A Springfield resident most of her life, Maxine worked as a seamstress at Goldblatt’s for 20 years. She was a member of South Tower Community Church in Springfield and then a member of Bluewater Baptist church in Niceville. She enjoyed playing cards, bowling, and traveling with her friends. After moving to Florida in 2006, she began taking art classes and won several ribbons for her artwork. She brought much joy to her family and everyone she met with her life stories.
Surviving are two daughters; Marcella Reynolds of Memphis, TN and Bette Catalano of Niceville, FL, five grandchildren and five great grandchildren, one great great grandson and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation: 11 am – 12 p.m. Saturday, October 1, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 12 p.m., Saturday, October 1, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home with Pastor Charlie Carver officiating.
Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
