Maurice "Morris" DeMeyer
Maurice “Morris” DeMeyer, 95, of Springfield, died at 6:12 pm, Sunday, at Villa Healthcare East. He was born May 24, 1923 in Pana, to Joseph Jr. and Julienne Pinchon DeMeyer. He married Lillian Evelyn Guinnee on May 6, 1947. She preceded him in death on June 27, 2013.
Survivors include four children; John (Barbara) DeMeyer of Barnhart, MO, Renee (Larry) Stafford of Kansas City, MO, Ann Marie (Waleed) Garten of Redondo Beach, CA and Daniel (Elaine) DeMeyer of Rockwall, TX; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one brother Paul DeMeyer and two grandsons, Stephen and Cameron DeMeyer.
He was a founding member of Christ the King Parish and Caregivers of Springfield. He was a charitable giver of his time and treasure to St. John’s Breadline, St. Patrick’s Food Bank, St. Joseph’s Home, Meals on Wheels, and Christ the King School.
He served as a judge for several years for Skills USA CNC Machining Competition.
Visitation: 5-7 pm, Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield with a prayer service at 5pm.
Funeral Service: 10 am, Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at Christ the King Parish with
Reverend Joseph Ring officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Pana.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick’s Church in Pana, Avalon Hospice, or Caregivers of Springfield.
