Mary T. Williams
CHATHAM – Mary T. Williams, 92, a resident of Chatham since 1988 and formerly of Springfield, died at 6:25 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 8, 2009, at Sarah B. Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.
She was born Jan. 20, 1917, in Hamburg, the daughter of Thomas Taylor and Teresa Gress Ulery. She married Carl Harold Williams in March of 1937; he preceded her in death June 9, 1974.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; a grandson, Jeffrey Becker; a sister, Anna Smith; and three brothers, Louis, Joseph and Peter Ulery.
Mrs. Williams worked for the secretary of state and retired as an assistant at LaJolie Femme Beauty Salon after 20 years.
She was First Annual Apple Harvest Queen in Calhoun County in 1935. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family.
Surviving are a daughter, Carole Becker Gair of Springfield; a son, Harold Butch Williams of Chatham; five grandchildren, Diane (husband, Jeff) Harper, Brad (wife, Sharon) and David Becker, and Doug (wife, Patty) and Bart (wife, Kay) Williams; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 until time of services at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home, with Bill Akers officiating. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009, at Indian Creek Cemetery in Hamburg.
