Betty R. Smith

Betty R. Smith, 85, of Springfield, died at 8:50 p.m., Monday, January 12, 2015 at Heritage Health Care.  She was born June 21, 1929 in Clarksville, MO to Carr F. and Lee Etta Zumwalt Davis.  She married William H. Smith on November 1, 1947 and he survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Sharon (Van) Johnson of Springfield; one son, Hal (Meg) Smith of Springfield; three grandchildren, Carla (Dan) Fitzgerald, Elizabeth Smith and David (Becky) Reid; four great grandchildren, Ryan, Connor, Kyle and Anna; two brothers, Gerald Davis and  James (Marge) Davis both  of Springfield and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Robert and Billy Joe Davis.

Betty was a member of Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.  She was a very devoted wife, mom and grandma.  She was an avid storyteller.

Betty was a homemaker and provided child care services for many years.

Visitation:  12 – 1 pm, Friday, January 16, 2015 at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.

Funeral Mass:  1 pm, Friday, January 16, 2015 at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception with Reverend Seth Brown officiating.  Burial will follow at Old Salem Cemetery.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Dominican Sisters of Springfield for ministries and promoting their mission.
