Mary M Smith
Mary M. Smith, of Springfield, died at 1:15 am, Sunday, June 15, 2014 at Bickford House. She was born June 21, 1927 in Springfield to John and Margaret Clinton Jenot. She married Robert Smith on October 18, 1947. Her parents, two brothers Robert and Thomas, two sisters Sister Margaret Mary Jenot and Kathleen Tranquilli preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Robert of Springfield; three daughters, Sandra (John) Tamblin of Springfield; Deborah (David) Frank of TN; Gail (David) Clodfelter of Springfield; two sons, Kevin (Patricia) Smith of Glen Ellyn; Curtis (Connie) Smith of Springfield; 11 grandchildren, DeAnna Clark, Tabatha Szkutnik, Adam Goone, Danett Moseley, Dalana Robertson, Shane Streder, Konnor Clodfelter, Justin Smith, Lauren Smith, Courtney Smith, Corey Smith; eight great-grandchildren, Riley Clark, Tyler Clark, Micah Szkutnik, Jordan Szkutnik, Jackson Goone, Peyton Goone, Rylan Moseley, Aubrey Moseley; two sisters, Rita Smarjesse and Yvonne (Leo) Fanning both of Springfield; one brother, George “Richard” (Judy) Jenot of Springfield; several nieces and nephews and numerous cousins.
Mary retired after 25 years from Sangamon County where she worked for the Treasurer’s and Assessor’s offices. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Church where she formerly served as Communion Minister. She was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers Auxiliary and was a member of the St. Louise de Marillac Guild. She volunteered at St. John’s Third Age Living.
Visitation: 4 – 7 pm, Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at Staab Funeral Home with prayers at 4 pm.
Funeral Mass: 10:30 am, Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at St. Joseph’s Church with Reverend Steven Janoski officiating.
Burial will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Louise de Marillac Guild.
