Mary Lou Stein
Mary Lou Stein, 92, of Springfield, formerly of Carbondale, died at 12:16 pm, Monday, April 17, 2017 surrounded by her family. She married Carl H. Stein January 16, 1954 and he preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughter, Lu Ann (Leslee) White of Springfield; step-daughter, Dorothy Georg of Belleville; step-sons, Edward Stein of Clearwater, FL and Robert (Sandy) Wendling of Poplar Bluff, MO; sixteen grandchildren, Kristi White,
Kelly Jones, Derek White, Frieda Holder, Kathy Bandy, Mary Kay Logan, Tom Stein, Ed Stein, Fred Georg, Michael Georg, Chris Klotz-Georg, Brian Wendling, Tracy and Angela Holcomb, Vicki Cefalu and Terri Green and several great and great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Ethel Soper, Pearl Pelke and Bessie Reed; two step-sons, Marion Stein and Carl Stein; one step- daughter, Frances Robinson and one step-grandson, Bill Stein.
Mary Lou was a member of the Church of the Little Flower. She was a former member of Daughters of Isabel (Mattoon) and Daughters of Catholic Faith. She was formerly active with Girl Scouts, had volunteered in many organizations at Little Flower, and was also a member of Growing in Faith Together (Gift). Hobbies included machine quilting and sewing. She was lovingly referred to as “Nonnie”. She was an Operations Supervisor at General Telephone Company for 37 years retiring in 1981.
She was a resident of Springfield since 1984.
Visitation: 4:30-6:00 pm, Friday, April 21, 2017 at the Church of the Little Flower. A rosary will be recited at 4:15 pm.
Funeral Mass: 6:00 pm, Friday, April 21, 2017 at the Church of the Little Flower with Rev. Allen Kemme officiating.
Graveside service at 11:00 am, Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Sacred Heart Cemetery, DuQuoin, IL.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of the Little Flower.
