SPRINGFIELD, IL – Mary Lou Burris, 87, died at 6:09 pm Thursday, July 22, 2015 at Delmar Gardens West in Chesterfield, MO. She was born September 4, 1927 in Sangamon County, IL to Fred and Melvina Held. She married John Preston Burris, Jr. February 28, 1948 and he preceded her in death October 20, 2009. Also preceding her in death were her parents and a sister, Virginia Goldsberry.

Surviving are her four children, Mark (Clare) Burris of Glenarm, Karen Thompson of Arizona, Kevin (Karrie) Burris of Athens and Shalawn (Ted) Grabner of Creve Coeur, MO; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mary Lou was a member of Historic Grace Lutheran Church. She was a homemaker and retired from Illinois Bell Telephone after 10 years of service. She enjoyed spending time with family especially grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved playing cards with her friends and gardening.

Visitation: 2-4 pm, Sunday, July 26, 2015 at Historic Grace Lutheran Church.

Funeral Service: 4 pm, Sunday, July 26, 2015 at Historic Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Thomas Christell officiating.

Graveside Service: 10 am, Monday, August 10, 2015 at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
