ROCHESTER- Mary L. Wallace, 83, of Rochester died at 12:24 pm, Sunday, April 1, 2012, at Memorial Medical Center. She was born on September 28, 1928 in Robinson, IL to George and Lula Leeke. She married Elmer Earl Wallace on August 6, 1949 and he preceded her in death on December 12, 2009. Also preceding her in death were her parents; four sisters; Mildred Luebke, Natta Mikeworth, Marie Hubbell and Emma Simpson; two brothers, Jim and George Leeke and two infant brothers.
Surviving are a son, Dr. Steve (Debbie) Wallace of Springfield, two grandchildren, Adam Wallace and Stephanie Wallace, both of Springfield, two sisters, Nancy Prentice of Downey, CA and Virginia Duvall of Rochester and several nieces, nephews and cousins including nieces, Kathleen Duvall and Mary Johnson, both of Rochester.
Mary belonged to a sorority; she was a Life Master in duplicate Bridge, enjoyed crafting especially painting shirts and sweatshirts.
Mary was a resident of Rochester since 2008 and formerly lived in Harrisburg. She was a bookkeeper for Lloyd L. Parker Furniture Co. in Harrisburg.
Visitation: 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 9:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at Staab Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Weber officiating. Graveside services will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Sunset Lawn Cemetery in Harrisburg, IL.
Memorials may be made to Chatham Baptist Church or Children’s Miracle Network.
