Mary F. Donkin
Mary F. Donkin, 68, of Chatham, died at 11 pm, Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Barnes Jewish Hospital. She was born August 22, 1945 in Hillsboro, to Fay C. and Dorcas F. Krummel Hildebrand. She married James R. Donkin on October 12, 1984 and he survives.
Also surviving are sons, Sean P. (Jennifer) Donkin of Mankato, MN and Matt J. (Gayle) Maupin of Edwards, Il; grandsons, Blake, Garret, Owen and Liam; granddaughter, Mattie; sister-in-law, Linda (Dave) Clark of West Frankfort; brother-in-law, Tom (Wanda) Donkin of West Frankfort; niece, Marcie (Ken) Bono and nephews, Matt Donkin and Jordan Clark.
She was preceded in death by her parents and mother and father-in-law, Dorothy and John Donkin.
Mary was a member of Christ Episcopal Church and was a member of Rail Splinters Quilting Group. She enjoyed raising her garden flowers from seed and she loved animals.
Mary attended Ramsey High School for three years and graduated from Lincoln High School. She received her Diploma in nursing at St. Francis Hospital and her Bachelor of Science Degree from the College of St. Francis.
She was a Registered Nurse and a Certified Nurse Administrator. She worked for St. Francis Medical Center; she was Nurse Manager of Pulmonary and Medical Surgical Intensive Care and was a Charge Nurse and Flight Nurse at the Regional Burn Center. She retired from the Illinois Department of Public Aid as a Medical Consultant.
Visitation: 4-7 pm, Sunday, December 15, 2013 at Staab Funeral Home. With additional visitation from 9:30-10:15 am, Monday, December 16, 2013 at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 10:30 am Monday, December 16, 2013, at Christ Episcopal Church with The Reverend Dr. Gregory A. Tournoux officiating.
Additional visitation will also be held from 9-11 am, Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at Union Funeral Home in West Frankfort, Illinois. Burial will follow at Boner Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Christ Episcopal Church or the Animal Protective League.
