Mary Evelyn Perry
SPRINGFIELD – Mary Evelyn Perry, 61, of Springfield died at St. John’s Hospital on Friday, Dec. 19, 2008, at 5:05 p.m.
She was born Aug. 3, 1947, in Jackson, Tenn. She was employed at the Pillsbury plant and also as a seamstress in Tennessee. She was a student at Mr. John’s Cosmetology. She also worked as a secretary at the YMCA and then became a homemaker.
She was a member of Center Point Church in Tennessee.
Preceding her in death were her mother, Mary L. Savage; father, Teet Williams; two brothers, Al C. Williams and Joe Lewis Williams; and a daughter, Carla Jones and her two sons, Andre A. Jones and Harry Perry Jr.
She is survived by her husband, Harry L. Perry, son, Rodney (wife, Raquel) Jones and daughter, Cheryl E. Jones (companion, Duane Dunlop), all of Springfield; two sisters, Rosie (husband, Robert) McBride of Springfield, Al D. (husband, Leon) Henderson of Galesburg; brother-in-law, Oliver Perry and mother-in-law, Daisy Nelson, both of Springfield. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and a close family friend, Tiffany McCoy.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, Dec. 27, 2008, from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s AME Church, where a service will follow at 11 a.m. The Rev. Toussaint Cheatom will officiate. Cremation will be accorded following the service.
